~ How my father became a doctor ~
I speak to you about this orientation which had been given to my father because it is characteristic, so to speak, of the very fast evolution of the customs in the sense(direction) of the occidentalisation, which had occurred at the beginning of this century. My father was already among the first pupils who'd frequented an elementary school or the education was given in French. He'd an uncle (a brother of his father) who was a practitioner, because, of the time of the youth of this uncle, there was no Faculty of Medicine in Turkey, and the practitioners were formed, under bosses' authority who'd acquired some experience(experiment) during their previous career, and in which the young people served as assistants. The uncle had noticed that his young nephew had a very awakened intelligence, and was interested in all who touched the things of the spirit. He'd advised to his brother to make him(her) pursue higher education, to be able to enter the Faculty of Medicine which had exactly just opened its doors to Istamboul. At the end of his elementary school, my father so entered the Turkish secondary school, then, the Faculty of Medicine. It(he) had, in the detail(room) which was of use to him(her) as doctor's office a whole library filled(performed) with medical works in French language, because the major part of his(her) professors had studied in France, still in this time there the first country of west where from came the sciences, the culture and all who could make a country progress in the customs very close to those of the Means - Age.
